Valentine’s Day is around the corner and what better way to
celebrate the season than by examining one of the most analyzed and
interpreted stories of all time - The Story of Psyche and Cupid. The Human Soul,
Transformation and Divine Love Psyche (soul, spirit, and
butterfly/transformation) was the most beautiful mortal ever born and
whenever she took her daily strolls away from her father’s castle every
person and beast stopped to savor her loveliness. Venus was so jealous she
sent her son Cupid (Eros or Love) to shoot his arrow and make her fall in
love with a most despicable man. Things didn’t turn out the way
she’d planned (they rarely do when it comes to love) and Cupid fell in
love with her instead. The tale continues with Psyche betraying her own inner
nature and her lover which eventually leads to her suffering through many
difficult, if not seemingly impossible, trials including an initiation to
Hades (Hell) itself. In the end she is (re)born through her own immortality
in the form of her daughter, Pleasure. The story is so full of imagery and
symbolism that it’s no wonder it
has been retold and interpreted by everyone from CS Lewis to Shakespeare in
Romeo and Juliet. I’m no Greek scholar but the
message I kept hearing was of Divine Love through forgiveness. Throughout the
story mortals and gods reach higher and higher states of enlightenment
through forgiving one another. What is Holding
You Back from Forgiving? Some claim that the act of forgiving can
actually alter your DNA. I don’t know about that, but I have
experienced the miraculous results of do so on the body and mind. When old wounds heal, the body can
only correspond accordingly so then why don’t we let go. Did you know that in They say it’s because a monkey
is selfish that he is trapped. I’d put it differently by saying that
the monkey is behaving in an encoded way through instinct but we as humans
have the power of choice at all times. Let go of the peanuts my friend and you
will find the Divine happiness that has eluded you. Forgiving
Yourself Try radically forgiving yourself to
find that Divine Love. I challenge you to sit in front of a mirror and use a
simple EFT set-up like, “Even though I don’t want to forgive
myself, I deeply and completely love and accept myself” Keep saying
this over and over again as you tap even when images and emotions come to the
surface. Keep tapping until you stop seeing, hearing, or experiencing those
memories and you will feel an incredible lightness of being. |

Write a letter to those you need to forgive but
haven’t and answer the letter as if you were that person. Write down
all the reasons, excuses, etc why that person did what they did to you. Now
boldly tap on those things by forgiving yourself as the perpetrator.
Here’s an example of what I mean. Say your father repeatedly belittled
you throughout childhood then address a letter to him revealing all your
hurt, anger, and pain his actions caused you. Next allow a response from your
father explaining why he did these things. Now pretend you are your father
and tap say, “Even though I hate myself because my own father belittled
me and I swore I wouldn’t repeat the pattern but I did, I forgive
myself” You will find that by being open to the other
person’s perceptive you can free yourself from your personal pain. This is also a very profound way to really experience
the Oneness of All That Is. |
